Cutting Credit Card Debt

If you are like me, you have built up a high credit card debt. I know, I know, we’ve all heard THAT before. Right? What bill am I going to juggle this month? I bet it’s driving you up the wall.

Alright, take a chill pill. Don’t be so fast to file for bankruptcy. Bear in mind that it’s most advantageous for your creditor to work with you to bring things back into line.

Below are some ideas on helping you to control your credit card debt:

First, get ahold of your credit card issuer and let them know of your circumstances. Ask them to lower your credit card’s interest rate, or for a reduced payment plan to repay. It’s quite possible that this may not have crossed your mind because I’m sure you are naturally polite. It is in your best interest to remain courteous when dealing with your creditors. Be firm, and polite, but present yourself in a manner that tells them you know exactly what you are looking for and that you expect to receive it. If you are not sure about what you are asking for, perhaps you might want to consider contacting a consumer credit couneling service with a reputable reputation. There are lots of trustworthy firms in business where the main purpose is to assist you in negotiating with your creditors.

Next, quit using the credit cards. Shred them, light them on fire (safely of course in a well ventilated area), or cut them up. Do whatever is required to keep you from using them. It will not help for you to continue feeding the problem by making even more debt.

This step can prove to be the most difficult of reducing your credit card debt. Being addicted to spending money that you don’t have available to spend. You have to quit- NOW.

Start by paying off the credit cards that have the higher interest rates. Work from there. How would you do that? Concentrate your efforts on the high interest rate credit cards by paying more than the minimum payment that is due each month. That payment is just designed to keep you obligated to the credit card companies for the longest amount of time possible.

The credit card companies aren\’t in business to lose money and it\’s in their best interest to keep you paying them for as long as possible. Even a small amount extra each month pays off in a big way in the long run.

Finally, keep holding your chin high and keep looking up. Lots of people such as yourself have started and successfully cut their credit card debt using these very steps. You can too!.

The Keys to Success Require Caring Enough to Keep Trying

Fishing in the Florida KeysImage via Wikipedia

by Cheryl A. Clausen

There isn’t an instant path to success. You want success and you want it now and you don’t want any challenges or obstacles along the way. Common sense tells you there’s no such thing as a free lunch. You can’t expect to have an idea and then have that idea instantly materialize into success. You need a valuable idea to succeed and to carry it out you have to have persistence.

You will have to have persistence stemming from your intense desire to succeed. If you don’t want it badly enough if you don’t care deeply enough you’ll crumble when faced with the challenges you will have to overcome. Don’t fall prey to the marketers who focus on the people who want something for nothing.

You have a great idea that you know can succeed, but do you want to get that success badly enough to do the things you may not want to do? The intensity of your desire will determine your level of persistence. When your desire is great enough you will find a way around any obstacle thrown at you so you can keep going. Most people fall short of the finish line and give up too soon. They have all kinds of reasons that sound really valid like: they ran out of money, they didn’t have the support of the people they needed, or they just couldn’t go on any longer. But when you’re persistent you will find a way to get the money you need, you will get the help of the people you need, and you will continue even though you’re exhausted.

When you lack persistence it’s a sign of weakness. You can overcome that weakness by taking action. Action creates persistence because as those actions take you closer to what you want your persistence increases.

Sometimes the greatest lessons and gifts appear as failure. Those failures are really just temporary defeat. You can’t fail unless you give up and you can’t find success if you allow yourself to fail because you lack the persistence to back up your desire.

When you feel your persistence weakening, stop and take a realistic view of the facts. Why do you want to succeed? What will your life be like when you succeed? Thinking about what you want in details helps to fortify your desire. What’s the most important next action you could take? Take that action. Build your persistence by taking action.

Law of Success Requires Continuous Action

You must transform your dreams into actions to succeed. To achieve success you must take those actions each and every day. Most people never succeed because they lack the persistence to take action each and every day. Before you can succeed you must have a clear plan for what success means to you and how you’ll get it. Follow that plan up each and every day by taking at least one action that will move you closer to what you want.

But what happens to most people is that their actions come to a grinding halt. At first you’re all excited about your plans for success and eager to take action. Then the reality of the burden of the tasks begins to erode away at that excitement.

Then you run into obstacles and challenges that make getting success difficult. Without a strong positive attitude you may decide your plans won’t work and give up. Sometimes you’ll blame other people and make excuses for yourself for not being able to do what you planned to do. If you want to succeed there can be no excuses, and there’s no one to blame but you. You have to find a way when things seem impossible. There isn’t another person who can stop you from succeeding.

Don’t allow one day pass without taking action to achieve success. That one day that you chose inaction over action could be the very day that a key opportunity becomes available and you won’t be ready for it. You have to have commitment and persistence to take action each and every day especially when things get tough.

Someone can tell you exactly what actions to take each day to succeed yet you aren’t likely to do them. Unless you have a burning desire to accomplish what you’ve set out to do. Even when the actions you need to take will save your life you may not do them unless you have a burning desire an unstoppable persistent desire to achieve success.

Success is your choice. Are you willing to develop a plan for success? Can you commit to taking at least one action each and every day that will take you closer to achieving success? With a clear plan and a commitment to action there’s nothing or no one who can stop you from succeeding.

5 Great Ways to Increase Your Motivation NOW!

William F. Paskell - bright colors; impressionistic feelingImage via WikipediaIrrespective of what goal you are trying to achieve, you always have to be motivated so that you have the mental stimulus to work towards that goal. Motivation is very important because even if you’ve convinced yourself that you want to reach certain goals, it might not always be easy to concentrate on them when you come across too many hurdles. It is necessary to have a positive mental state to achieve what you’ve set out to, and self-motivation is a very good way to go about it. You can change your plans anytime you think that alterations will be for the good. Your motivation plans should be flexible so that you always feel comfortable with them, and not turn them into a chore. There could be unexpected changes in your life and you have to change your plans to accommodate any surprises.

The first step for you is to first chalk out a plan to motivate yourself and then write it down, once you’ve written it down, you can then divide it into small tasks which you can do daily and which, at the end of the day, will make you feel calmer and stronger. This is a great way to go about it and will prevent you from feeling out of your depth or insecurely thinking that you’ve aimed towards a goal which is impossible for you to achieve. Every time you tick off a completed item on your written motivation plan, you’ll feel a great sense of accomplishment, and this will help you carry on with the next task on the list.

You’ll be on a mental high from the sense of optimism you’ll get when you reward yourself for being able to fulfill your tasks. You can choose your own reward – it could be eating a bar of chocolate on your own, or chatting with a friend for ten minutes on the phone. Do not delay anything you should be doing now. Procrastination will drain your energy and leave you feeling less motivated at the end of the day. Keep focused on whatever steps are required for achieving the goals you’ve set for yourself.

Sticking to the lists you write down is a good way to fend off procrastination. You could try breaking down your yearly goals into smaller monthly tasks, and these into weekly ones. Then break these into small daily tasks which you can do fairly easily, and yet be working towards achieving your yearly goals. Once you’ve got into the groove of doing daily tasks, you’ll want to tick them off at the end of the day and not procrastinate.

Making lists is a simple and great way to making yourself work a bit every day and thus contribute to your ultimate goals. Reward yourself every time you complete your daily tasks. Feeling good will increase your motivation too.

Shields Up!

I have been reminded a few times recently that people can be very strange. Some will hate for no reason, some will love.

I think one of the biggest mistakes we can make as people with ambitions or dreams is to listen to those people in the world who want to pull you down and destroy you for no reason other than jealousy, or because they can, or sometimes even because they love you and want to protect you from making mistakes.

If you care what everyone thinks about you, you will ultimately fail in whatever you try to achieve, because you CANNOT make everyone happy. It’s impossible.

If you think whatever you are doing in life is right and good for YOU, then go for it. Put your shields up, and don’t listen to the haters or the people that you think are wrong.

Take on board people’s constructive advice, yes, but if you think they are wrong, then you should go for it anyway.

Life is too short to not take chances that you might regret later in life just because you were trying to keep everyone happy.

A 4-Hour Workweek??!

Timothy Ferriss (The 4-hour Workweek) @ etechImage by gebl via FlickrSo this week I’ve spent a lot of time reading a book called “The 4-Hour Workweek” by Timothy Ferriss after having hearing about it on Woody Maxim’s excellent blog.

This book is incredible and has completely changed the way I think about how I work and spent the time in my week!

Timothy goes on to explain how a new bread of entrepreneur called the “New Rich” (NR) work and use their time. Instead of the old model of working yourself to death with endless days and nights slogging away, the NR set up businesses that require very little or no time of their own to run.

This time can then be spent enjoying life to max and having “mini-retirments”. Who wouldn’t want to have more time to spend with family, friends and just exploring the world and all it has to offer?

Especially surprising is the section about outsourcing your life and work. You would be amazed at the things you can hire people to do very cheaply, especially when hiring from India and China where differences in currency strengh and other factors mean that you can get very cheap “virtual assistants” ready and willing to do whatever you need 24 hours per day.

It’s a $12 book folks, and an essential addition to your library of motivational and insprational works.

The man who started it all for me…

Anthony Robbins… The man is a legend.

WHEN I’m rich and famous and living the life of my dreams, I can honestly say that the man who shaped the way I think the most was Anthony Robbins.

If you’ve never heard of him, do yourself a BIG favour and buy his books Unlimited Power and Awaken the Giant Within - they’re both less than $10 each and they will change your life forever!

He also has some great audio packages and video’s and his seminars are an awesome experience, but if you’re on a budget then stick with the books.

If you still need convincing, go check out some of the Anthony Robbins Videos on YouTube.

This 22 minute vid is pretty cool, so sit back with a nice hot drink right now and enjoy…
